Fry’s Top Chow winners chosen!
Mums and sons, fathers and daughters, sisters, grannies and grandkids, wives and husbands, best friends - kitchen collaborations forged in love for each other, and a love for great vegetarian cooking.
The Top Chow Cooking Competition, hosted annually by the Fry’s Family Food Co, honours their most loyal fans who have been cooking meat-free family masterpieces with them for years.
A celebration of the love that begins in the kitchen and is shared at the table, this year’s Top Chow focused specifically on the cooking partnerships that happen in homes all over South Africa.
Mums and sons, fathers and daughters, sisters, grannies and grandkids, wives and husbands, best friends – kitchen collaborations forged in love for each other, and a love for great vegetarian cooking.

Fry’s also encouraged entrants to focus on value for money dishes that could feed a family of four for R200, using the new products from their Everyday Value Range.
There were hundreds of wonderful entries that were whittled down to six finalists. The six teams were invited to a cook-off in Durban, and it was a very close competition. The judging panel had a really hard time choosing the top three.
But winners had to be chosen, and the three teams that came out tops were twin sisters Radha Govender and Rookmoney Moodley (with their incredible Chick’n Biryani) and husband and wife teams, Lallie and Kuben Gounden (who created an incredible Tandoor Roti with Fry’s Chunky Strips), and Fee and Kavish Sahadeo (with their delicious Spicy Sausage Chutney).
Each team took home a R20, 000 cash prize.
