Circuit Managers Cup re-ignited for the year

All six circuits at the CMC will be hosting matches in all five codes in the primary and secondary school divisions for all schools in the CMC. The base of the tournament caters for approximately 30, 000 players from 228 schools.

The famous Circuit Managers Cup, the brainchild of Siva Subrayen, a member of the George Ramalu Trust and then circuit manager of Phoenix Central Circuit of the Mafukuzela/ Gandhi CMC, was re-ignited this year. It is an opportunity for all pupils in schools within the CMC to participate and compete in the following codes of sport: football, netball, volleyball, table tennis, and chess.

Secondary schools will have codes in the under-17 division while primary schools will compete in the under-13 division. This year, players from all schools will be able to showcase their talent in the development code of table tennis.

Circuit manager of Phoenix North and the circuit manager designated for sport in the CMC, Mr J Pillay said that he was very excited about the partnership with the George Ramalu Trust and Azelis (formerly Umongo Petroleum). He was complimentary of the role played by Jace Nair from the trust and Boston Moonsamy from Azelis for serving as the anchor sponsor to the CMC Cup 2024.

Nair indicated that the GRMT was there at the founding of the CMC Cup in 2012 and continued to 2019 and due to COVID, the tournaments were put on hold since then.

Managing director at Azelis and a trustee, Boston Moonsamy, said, “Azelis is proud to continue the sponsorship via the trust as this aligns with our vision of making a difference to the youth via sports and education.”
