Youth invited to enlightening Hindu Heritage Camp

Veena Maharaj from the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh South Africa said that last year’s event was a resounding success, and this year, the co-ordinators aim to reach greater heights.

An exhilarating educational camp promoting Hinduism among the younger generation is set to take place on Sunday, May 5, hosted by the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh.

The Hindu Heritage Camp is a day event for the youth between the ages of eight and 18, hosted in collaboration with local Hindu temples and organisations.

The camp features an array of fun, educational and inspirational activities including yoga, quizzes, traditional games, mantra chanting and moral stories.

The event takes place at the Woodview Ramayan Mandal, based at 3 Ridgewood Place, Woodview.

“With the guidance of Sandip Paithankar from India, this is our fourth camp,” she said. She added that the youth camp also occurs annually in other areas including Verulam, Tongaat, Springfield, and Chatsworth.

Chairperson of the Woodview Ramayan Mandal, Tony Sanjit, said, “The event focuses on promoting Hinduism among the youth, as the youth of today are our future leaders.”
