City supports 345km stroke awareness walk

Cllr Sokhabase said, “We have partnered with Ubuntu Caring Walk and the Black Child Foundation to raise funds for the Ndlovu family, but more importantly to use L’vovo’s influence to raise awareness about strokes.”

The chairperson of the Community Services Committee, Cllr Zama Sokhabas rallied behind the 345km L’vovo Will Rise Again Walk, from Newcastle to Durban, in support of stroke victims, recently.

The initiative aimed to raise funds for renowned Newcastle-born but Durban-based Kwaito star, Thokozani Ndlovu, known by his stage name L’vovo Derrango. There were rumours that he had died, which were proven to be untrue.

The Kwaito star was confirmed to be hospitalised after suffering a minor stroke. Cllr Sokhabase said, “We have partnered with Ubuntu Caring Walk and the Black Child Foundation to raise funds for the Ndlovu family, but more importantly to use L’vovo’s influence to raise awareness about strokes.”
