Pupils shower elderly residents with love

The pupils believed that it was an insightful and beautiful day to spend time with the aged and were thankful for the opportunity.

Twenty-five grade 11 pupils from Mountview Secondary School, volunteered their time by spending the day at the Verulam Day Care Centre, on Sunday.

The event was graced by sponsors and other dignitaries, including entrepreneur, philanthropist and guest of honour, Vivian Reddy.

The centre feeds and cares for a large number of senior citizens and provides palliative care for the sick and frail. The organisation needs funding to sustain its programmes.

Deputy principal of Mountview Secondary School, Mrs M Pillay, said, “It was heartwarming to see them putting a cheer on our senior citizens’ faces. We are very proud of our children’s unselfish and caring attitude. We encourage more of our pupils and the community to work together in this manner.”
