Alleged Chatsworth road rage suspect to appear in court

Police are investigating the matter further.

Following the alleged road rage incident in which a man was shot dead by another motorist, opposite the BP Garage yesterday, Chatsworth SAPS has issued an official statement.

The statement read, ‘According to police reports at Chatsworth SAPS, on Thursday, October 2, at about 1:15pm, a 21-year-old man was shot dead on Road 602, Arena Park, Chatsworth.

Communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS, Cheryl Pillay said, “It is alleged that the driver of a blue Honda Civic was parked on Road 602 when he was approached by the driver of a maroon Golf. An altercation ensued and the driver of the Golf was shot while seated in his vehicle. The driver succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene. The passengers in the deceased’s vehicle did not sustain any injuries.” The suspect will appear in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 6, 2014. Police are investigating the matter further.
