Johannesburg Women in Sports Awards 2021- 2nd Edition
Through sport, women can further develop skills that are transferable to the working environment to find a safe network, a sense of meaning and purpose, and to express their talent and passion professionally.
The Johannesburg Sports Confederation, together with the City of Joburg and the Gauteng Sports Confederation, will be launching the 2nd edition of the Johannesburg Women in Sports Awards. The main aim is to recognize and honour individuals and teams that have excelled both on and off the field on an annual basis, which will culminate in the Gauteng Women in Sports Awards. For the 2021 Johannesburg Women in Sports Awards, the period under consideration will be January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2021.
Only nominations from Federations that are in good standing will be accepted. These awards are to recognise and reward all the Women and Girl Achievers who have excelled during the above period. These awards are critical for women’s empowerment in building a path towards levelling the field for equal participation and leadership opportunities. Through sport, women can further develop skills that are transferable to the working environment to find a safe network, a sense of meaning and purpose, and to express their talent and passion professionally. The Sports fraternity has been male-dominated therefore as sports organisations we need to provide the platforms for change to promote women at all levels.
We are in a difficult period with the Covid pandemic threatening sport worldwide, we are committed to finding ways to promote sports in a safe way and by observing all Covid protocols. We urge our clubs, federations, and sports organisations from Johannesburg to nominate their athletes, administrator’s, coaches, fans, and media, etc. in all 18 categories.
