Zalika Methula needs your help

Zalika will be making history as the first South African black female junior diver in a decade to qualify for this event. She will be competing in the U15-U16 category in the 1m and 3m springboard, and 3m synchro diving events.

I write to you on behalf of my daughter, Zalika Methula, who has been selected to represent South Africa at the FINA Diving World Junior Championship. It will be held in Kyiv, Ukraine, from December 2 to 9, 2021. It is the FINA showcase diving event held every two years. All the leading diving nations in the world will be competing, including the USA, England, China, and Canada. Zalika will be making history as the first South African black female junior diver in a decade to qualify for this event. She will be competing in the U15-U16 category in the 1m and 3m springboard, and 3m synchro diving events.

Zalika found her love for diving at the age of 9 and through passion, commitment, and determination has exceeded all expectations. It is her lifelong dream and long-term goal to represent South Africa at the Olympics one day. Competing internationally at this young age is a vital step in the development of her diving journey. As a family, we are not financially able to send her on an international self-funded tour to represent her country. For this reason, we appeal for financial assistance from our friends, family, acquaintances, and anyone else that would like to see Zalika reach her goal. All funds raised will go towards her and coach flights, visa costs, accommodation, and sports kit. It takes a village to raise a child so let’s get behind this diving junior.
