Principal Hlatshwayo bade a fond farewell

As a gift, the learners presented her with a sheep, local businessmen donated a cow and the educators presented her with a bed, a washing machine, and a television.

Newly retired Kenterton Primary School Principal Mrs Hlatshwayo was given a farewell party at the school on Saturday, June 25.

She had been teaching for 33 years and had served as a school principal for 22 years.

Various dignitaries, learners, and members of the public were present to wish her well in her retirement.

Over the years at the school, Mrs Hlatshwayo was able to secure bursaries for eight learners to attend the TUK Sports High School in Pretoria and provided many other learners with wonderful academic opportunities.

With her leadership skills, the Kenterton Primary School was able to secure second place as the “best performing school” in the province and even appeared on the Super Sport television channel.

The school has produced engineers, doctors, scientists, and other professionals.

Local feeder school principals commended her for producing the highest calibre of learners.

As a gift, the learners presented her with a sheep, local businessmen donated a cow and the educators presented her with a bed, a washing machine, and a television.

Speaking on behalf of the Department of Education, Chief Education Specialist, Mrs Dlamini described Mrs Hlatshwayo as a kind-hearted person who was committed to hard work.

“We are bidding farewell to a legend, the mother of a nation who was dedicated and worked hard with her staff to ensure that her school delivered the best.

All this because Mrs Hlatshwayo and her educators worked as a team.

We wish her all the best, and may she enjoy her retirement,” said Mrs Dlamini.
