WASP needs your help to keep their organisation running

Widowed and Single Parents (WASP) is one such organisation that has been working tirelessly to ensure that people do not go to bed on an empty stomach.

Community feeding schemes have fallen on hard times since the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic. Be that as it may, this has not deterred them from forging on with their mandate to provide nutritious meals to those, who need them.

Widowed and Single Parents (WASP) is one such organisation that has been working tirelessly to ensure that people do not go to bed on an empty stomach.

WASP was founded in 2018 by Brian Naidoo, who is the chairperson of the organisation. They are a registered non-profit organisation with the Department of Social Development.

They have been granted Section 18A tax status with SARS, which means that all donors receive a donation certificate to be submitted with income taxes.

Speaking on why he formed the organisation, Naidoo said, “We had a yearning of giving back to the community and wanting to make a difference. We provide hot meals, bread and water on a weekly basis and food hampers on a monthly basis to our identified recipients in Merebank, Wentworth, Bluff, Isipingo, Lamontville and Durban Central. Our target marketing is single, divorced, widowed parents, who have dependents, senior citizens, unemployed, the homeless, those living in shelters, physically and mentally challenges and children’s and adults homes.”

Naidoo said they were driven by their passion of helping people and making their lives better. They go by the motto: Help people, even when you know they can’t help you back.

WASP provides between 253 hundred hampers on a monthly basis.

The organisation’s donation and sponsorship has decreased drastically and their resources are running dangerously low. They are in need of donations, whether in cash or kind to keep their organisation running. Any type of donation will be graciously welcomed.

Those, who are able to assist the organisation, can contact the chairperson, Brian Naidoo on 084-474-6669. Alternatively, send an email to [email protected]
