Crossmoor father dragged 200 metres to his death
The sole breadwinner, 40-year-old Nichalen Naidoo, also known as Donald to his family and friends, was rushed to the RK Khan hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on the same day.
A Crossmoor father of two suffered a cruel and painful death after he was allegedly dragged almost 200 metres by a vehicle following an altercation next to his residence during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The sole breadwinner, 40-year-old Nichalen Naidoo, also known as Donald to his family and friends, was rushed to the RK Khan Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The youngest sister of the deceased, 30-year-old Farzana Sulaman alleged that the altercation was due to a rowdy party at the road adjacent to Naidoo’s house.
Sulaman claimed, “There was a lot of noise due to the party along with a bunch of rowdy partygoers, who were behaving badly and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. They proceeded to drive up along the road, using our yard as a turning point. Nichalen then confronted the group as they were extremely loud and that is when an altercation began. The men were aggressive and violent towards him.”
According to the distraught sister, that is when things took a turn for the worst as an unknown male allegedly rammed his silver-grey Jetta vehicle, which did not have a number plate, into Naidoo and then continued to drag him a further 200 metres away from his home. “We were horrified at the devastating news of my brother’s passing. A close family friend came home and told us what had happened. His body was lying on the ground as we waited for the ambulance. It was a gruesome site, as he lost many fingers and his body was brutally bruised,” she revealed.
Naidoo’s nephew, Yashen Jeewanraj (27) shared that his uncle was a ‘kind and loving soul’, always seeking to help others.
“My uncle always tried his best to assist his family and community. He was such a jovial person, always attempting to make people smile when times were rough. It is so heart-breaking to realise that people can be so cruel. No one deserves to go through what my uncle went through. Our family needs closure and justice for what happened to Nichalen,” he said.

Chatsworth SAPS communications officer, Cpt Cheryl Pillay, confirmed that a case of murder is being investigated.
“Police are appealing to witnesses, who can assist with the investigation, to contact Chatsworth SAPS on 031 451-4255. Alternatively, call Crime Stop on 08600-10111,” concluded Cpt Pillay.
