According to police reports, the driver of the horse and trailer, which burst into flames, attempted to flee the scene of the horror crash.

The collision caused the vehicles to burst into flames.

Communications officer of Malvern SAPS, W/O Radhika Marimuthu, said, “The multi-vehicle collision resulted in several vehicles catching alight. It is alleged that the vehicles were stationary in the morning traffic when a horse and trailer, carrying chrome, failed to stop and rammed into the vehicles, subsequently bursting into flames upon impact. A tanker, a one-ton bakkie, a construction vehicle, a Polo and six other vehicles were involved in the collision.”
It is believed that the man seated at the back of the bakkie fell off due to the impact and succumbed to his injuries and extensive burns.
