Woman accused of defrauding employer of millions
The source further alleged that her family members and several service providers were also implicated, facing charges of fraud and theft in connection with what is described as a sophisticated scheme.
Protesters gathered outside the Pinetown Magistrates Court following the arrest of a well-known church leader and the spouse of a local pastor from Phoenix, who is accused of defrauding her long-time employer of more than R4 million over a four-year period.
According to a source, who wished to remain anonymous, the woman had been employed at the company for 17 years, gradually working her way up and gaining the trust of its directors before allegedly abusing that trust.
The source further alleged that her family members and several service providers were also implicated, facing charges of fraud and theft in connection with what is described as a sophisticated scheme. Court documents suggest that the stolen funds were used to finance a lavish lifestyle, which reportedly included expensive clothing, luxury holidays, extravagant parties, and even church donations.

“Despite publicly professing to be a devout Bible-believing woman, she is accused of recruiting others into her scheme, leaving colleagues and members of the community feeling deeply betrayed,” the source claimed.
The accused appeared in court again on Friday, September 19, but the matter was adjourned. Outside the courthouse, frustration and disappointment were evident among residents, many of whom questioned how such alleged crimes could involve individuals who were seen as figures of faith and trust.
“What happened to loyalty, decency, and honesty? It feels like the moral compass has been lost,” one resident said.
