Lenasia South’s Shaziel team restores its community

The Shaziel Community Services and Shaziel Community Patrollers raised funds from their pockets to buy the palisades fence to fence 75 metres of open space and converted it into a community family park.

The Shaziel Community Services and Shaziel Community Patrollers of Lenasia South Extension 4 celebrated the completion of the Phase 1 Community Project on Saturday, October 26.

This project saw the closure of the municipal open space on Mount Ziel in Lenasia South, which criminals use as the entry and exit points to commit crimes.

“This small community family park has left the community talking. We will continue to work together dedicated to rejuvenating our surroundings to their former glory. It may be a slow process, but nonetheless, it is getting shaped day by day,” said Shenaz Osman.

Having successfully completed Phase 1, the community is moving on to its second phase on Mount Shasta Street, which extends for 150 metres. About 60 more palisades will be needed to close up the space- its success will depend on the community’s contribution.

The team intends to pursue a third phase, which will be to install boom gates. Anyone who wants to contribute towards the community project can contact Shenaz Osman on 071-252-4057, for more information.
