National Cupcake Day enjoys ‘sweet’ success
The organisation anticipates even greater accomplishments in the future, all because of the hard work of its supporters, volunteers, and partners like Mugg and Bean, which agreed to donate a share of the proceeds from the sale of its enormous Muggles Muffin, and as a result, has already contributed R1, 1 million for 2023.
On National Cupcake Day, September 30, at Trade Route City and 59 other malls across the country, Cupcakes of Hope celebrated its fundraising campaign, which was a ‘sweet’ and decadent success.
International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month was commemorated during the month of September. Cupcakes of Hope raised an astounding R2, 278, 525 during the campaign thanks to its committed work and kind donations.
The organisation encouraged South Africans to host a ‘Party of Hope’ where participants could pledge to bake 24 or 48 cupcakes and raise funds individually.
Additionally, on September 30, volunteers had the option to join any of the 60 malls participating in Cupcake of Hope’s National Cupcake Day initiative, where they could support cupcake sales, offer their time, and assist in fundraising.
The founder of Cupcakes of Hope, Sandy Cipriano, expressed her sincere gratitude for the extraordinary response.
“The true strength of Cupcakes of Hope lies in the heart and commitment of every volunteer who passionately contributed to this cause. Their dedication and hard work made a difference, allowing us to extend our support to the many families battling the challenges of childhood cancer. From the bottom of my heart, I thank every volunteer for helping us sprinkle hope and joy to these courageous young souls and their families,” Cipriano said.
The organisation is still working to support families dealing with the effects of children’s cancer. Over 506 families have received priceless assistance from them in just this year alone, whether in the shape of medical care or daily essentials like transportation to hospitals, nutritional meals, cosy clothing and diapers.

“For us at Mugg and Bean, taking part in such a worthwhile project with Cupcakes of Hope has been humbling. We are proud to work with them and make a difference in the lives of these brave youngsters and their families. As they commit to continuing their assistance, their generosity is highlighted even more. After September, R1 will be given to COH for every large muffin purchased, assuring ongoing support for this deserving cause through 2024,” Deeolan Govender, marketing executive at Mugg and Bean said.
COH would also like to thank every attendee and sponsor for their overwhelming show of support.
