Man found guilty of Umhlatuzana business robbery

A 25-year-old man recently appeared in the Durban Regional Court where he was found guilty of robbery and sentenced to 15 years behind bars.

Sam Kachango committed the robbery on February 1, 2021 on Chatsworth Main Road in Umhlatuzana.

Bayview SAPS communications officer, W/O Collin Chetty, said, “Kachango robbed victims of cash, airtime, machines and cellphones to the value of R41, 000. Apart from being sentenced to 15 years in jail, he was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. Det W/O Norman Khomo was praised for the excellent manner in which he handled and investigated the case, ensuring a successful conviction.”
